Failure to launch refers to difficulties in becoming self-sufficient and assuming the responsibilities of adulthood. Do you have a child having difficulty making the transition to adulthood? At Matara, we believe that young adults need to discover forms of reinforcement other than pleasure if they are to get past failure to launch. By discovering other sources of meaning, your child can emerge as an independent adult.
The Matara program strengthens self-esteem and self worth in young adults. Building blocks of this program include volunteer service, physical training, and developing meaningful connections to Israel.
As part of the Matara Failure to Launch program, each young adult volunteers for an organization of their choosing. Volunteer opportunities include emergency medical care and hospitals, schools for children with special needs, programs for providing food and services for the poor, and many other social causes. We view volunteering as an important step in recognizing one’s self-worth and in coming to believe in one’s own abilities
Physical training, healthy habits
The failure to launch program emphasizes becoming comfortable with one’s body. This involves both developing a healthy diet and eating habits as well as developing a personalized exercise program with a personal trainer. Young adults who take care of themselves, and feel worthy of being cared for, can better face the challenges of the outside world.
Each young adult is given the opportunity to connect to the Land of Israel and the people of Israel. Weekly trips offer our students first-hand experience of the land from a vantage point that few tourists ever see. Students who wish to develop their spirituality choose from different programs available. For many young adults, spiritual growth opens the path to realizing full potential.
Take the next step
The Failure to Launch Program focuses on strengthening self-esteem in young adults. We help young adults develop a sense of self-worth. If your child does not yet believe enough in themselves, our program can help. We help each and every student develop a sense of belief in themselves in order to face the world with realism and optimism.
